The Coronavirus disease came from Wuhan, China in December of 2019. On January 30 of 2020, the Philippine Department of Health reported the first case of Covid-19 in the Philippines with a 38-year-old female Chinese national.
On March 7, 2020, the first case of local transmission of the Covid-19 was confirmed. WHO is working closely with the Department Of Health(DOH) in responding to the Coronavirus outbreak
On March 8, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation 922 placing the entire Philippines under state of public health emergency because of the Covid-19 threat that is looming in the nation. On the next day, March 9, Congressman Joey Salceda of the 2nd district of the province of Albay recommended a lockdown of the entire National Capital Region (NCR) for a period of seven days, in response to the COVID-19 threat.
On March 16, 2020, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte declared the entire Luzon area under "enhanced community quarantine". This effecitvely restricted the residents to go out and do their daily activities except for some exceptions. This lockdown was done as a response to the growing global pandemic of the Coronavirus disease.
