Various festivals are held all throughout the country. We have various types of festivals as well, some of which are below.arts festivalfilm festivalstraditional festivalsflower festivalsfood festivals
What this does is to energize the community into a common coal. When a festival is fast approaching you will notice that everyone is trying to pitch in. Those are not familiar with the festival will get curious and ask the elderly. They will then observe how these festivals are done. With that, the tradition is passed down from generation to generation. Local culture certainly plays a part since most of these festivals are tied to the local culture. For example the Maskara Festival was born out of mass and cara - with cara coming from the Spanish word for face. Indeed many of our festivals are influenced by the Spaniards.
Apart from its cultural and historical significance, festivals also help drive local economy. Take the example of Panagbenga. During that time in February tourists would flock Baguio City just to witness the fluvial parades. The influx of tourists increases spending and as there are many people, Airbnb accommodations or hotel accommodations as well receive a boost.
